Marvel x Hip Hop Variant Covers.

2:46:00 PM
Marvel Loves Hip Hop...

What do you guys think of these Marvel Hip Hop variant covers? Pretty rad right?

Below enjoy seeing some of your favorite hero and heroines paying homage to some sick hip hop albums. From Biggie, Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, Eric B. and Rakim to Lauryn Hill and more to come.

If you keep an eye out for all-new #1's from Marvel Comics coming this fall, you may get the chance to purchase your own Marvel Comics variant cover featuring some of your favorite Marvel characters paying homage to some of the dopest artist from the past few years. Some are no longer with us such as Biggie and ODB, but their music lives on in our hearts and memories...  now with a little help from Marvel too.

"For years, Marvel Comics and Hip-Hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialog," says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso.  "Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces in when we unveil the first of more than fifty variant covers, each of which pays tribute to an iconic album cover from the past 30 years that shaped pop-culture over the past three decades."

I'm super excited to see more covers, though I must confess... I'm a little disappointed not to see Tupac in these sneak peeks :(

Looks Like We Have Elektra Joining "Marvel's Daredevil" Season 2.

7:04:00 PM
Élodie Yung has been cast as Elektra for Netflix "Marvel’s Daredevil”.

This makes me sooooo happy! First off, I was very pleased with Marvel's Daredevil season one which already has me excited and anxiously waiting for season 2. Secondly, Elektra?! Fantastic!

You may know Elodie Yung from “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” or “District 13: Ultimatum” I have a feeling she's going to crush this role. Also to be frank, I'm happy with the resemblance she has with the way the comic book character has been illustrated.

Elektra is a sexy, mysterious, hot lady and a Daredevil fan favorite. Her and Matt Murdock have quite the history together and I can't wait to see how their romance and chemistry will come to life in season 2. I think it will be perfection.

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,” said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

Who else is hype? I think I foresee a lot more Elektra cosplay than usual coming soon. Who knows, maybe even I'll join the party ;-)

Jurassic Park, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice & Fantastic Four.

1:16:00 PM
Holy Trailers Batman!

There's been some great movie trailers dropping this past week or so. If you haven't checked them out (because you live on outer space or something) I wanted to post them here for you. So excited for Jurassic Park, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. I'm still feeling pretty iffy about Fantastic Four... just not convinced yet.

So many comic book based movies coming out soon and Jurassic Park is such a classic... looks like we have a good few months ahead of us in the film department.

Jurassic Park

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Fantastic Four.

Which one of these are you looking forward to the most?

New Marvel's Ant-Man - Trailer 1

8:19:00 AM
Yay Monday Means New Trailer...Today At Least!

Marvel has just dropped it's first full length Ant-Man movie trailer starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang. The trailer looks pretty promising for the comic book movie.

It's cool to see Paul Rudd in this kind of role as apposed to so much comedy. You get to see him shrink to ant size and have a short and sweet conversation with an Ant. The trailer includes a quick backstory, some humor, a face off, he even gets punch by a chick! Ch-ch-ch- Check it out.

The Ant-Man film is set to be in theaters July 17th.

What do you guys think so far?

DareDevil On Netflix. Let Us Binge!

7:44:00 PM
The Real Question Is Who Hasn't Been Binging On Marvel Comics DareDevil This Weekend?!

Ok guys so I'm only on like episode 5 right now but so far so great! Am I right? I don't want to give too much away but I'm really enjoying the way the story is unravelling and I love how detailed the fight scenes. They're doing a great job at showing how DareDevil's other senses (besides sight obviously) are so heightened. The way he could tell when a weapon is about to hit him or when someones out in the hallway before they even enter (he could smell them)... so many small details are making this show fantastic to me.

I'm very much enjoying it. Charlie Cox is doing a stellar job and I'm enjoying the rest of the cast too. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I heard about this show at first... I was never huge on DareDevil. Needless to say I am very pleasantly surprised.

What do you guys think about the show so far? Drop a comment.

Take Your Action Figure To Work Day!

9:46:00 PM
Tomorrow, or in some places today March 6, 2015 is Take Your Action Figure To Work Day!

Hell yeah! It's about time more people incorporate a bit of fun and entertainment into the work place. If you want to participate via social media you can check out the official 'Take Your Action Figure To Work Day' website HERE and learn all about how this magical day came to life.

If you just want to see the rules and hashtags real quick, here they are straight from the site:

'Do you have an action figure? Do you have a camera? Do you have a social media account? If the answer is yes, than you have all you need to participate! Take your action figure to work on the first Friday in March and post pictures of him/her/it with you, with your coworkers, with a client or with your boss (well, maybe not your boss). Get creative! Who doesn’t want to see Wolverine pulling double duty as a paper shredder? In 2014 some people even story boarded a day in the life of their action figure, for the time they woke up, to the end of the day. Even Cheetah and Wonder Woman put aside their differences at the end of the day to go camping together.'
You’re only limited by your own creativity. Post away! Be sure you include the Official #AFWDYYYY (example: #AFWD2015, #AFWD2016, etc…) so we can all see the amazing things you do to make this as nerdy as possible.'

There you have it kiddies. Now go to your office and let Batman do all of your office work for you! Perhaps Wolverine shall pour you a cup of coffee? Maybe a LEGO figure will go tell off your boss or something... those little guys are fiesty.

Stan Lee's Spider-Man Sketch Hangs Out With An 8-Year Old In Harlem.

11:25:00 AM
Stan Lee drew a special request Spider-Man for a child with autism.

Photo via NY Times

According to the New York Times, 8 year old Jamel Hunter received a very special package. In the package was a picture frame of a penciled sketch of a stick figure, Spider-Man! Above the figure there is a word bubble that says “Hi Jamel.”

Jamel has had a tough life for a young boy. His mother suffered from Blount’s disease which later caused her to move around in a motorized wheelchair. She often worked different jobs to get by. Jamel himself didn't even speak until he was in pre-school. Jamel then began working with the Kennedy Child Study Center which helps children with intellectual disabilities.

Jamel loves Spiderman and his 8th birthday was approaching (which was Spiderman themed)....

California native Corky Hale read an article about Jamel in the paper and must have felt very touched. Hale just so happens to be neighbors with... wait for it... STAN LEE. She went to him with a special request and he was happy to do it apparently.

“This was a unique experience,” “Corky called me and said there was a little boy,”  “She wanted a sketch, so I did one.”

Stan Lee, 92, was quick to point out that was one of the Spider-Man creators but he didn’t draw the comics. “I’m not known as an artist, which is lucky for the world,”.

How very awesome of Stan Lee to fulfill Corky's request for 8 year old Jamel. Now there is a happy boy with his Spiderman sketch resting somewhere in Harlem.

Morena Baccarin Joins The 'Deadpool' Movie As Female Lead.

3:49:00 PM

Hello Morena Baccarin!

The Hollywood Reporter graced us with the news that Morena Baccarin will join Ryan Reynolds in FOX's 'Deadpool' movie based on the Marvel character. Reynolds stars in the movie as 'Wade Wilson/Deadpool' who undergoes a cancer operation that scars him and but also leave him with superpowers. Baccarin has been cast as the female lead which plays Reynolds love interest in what I can only imagine is going to be a very complicated relationship.  Also attached to the project are T.J. Miller and Gina Carano. The movie is set to be released February 2016.

Morena Baccarin has worked her way into many peoples hearts. If you're like my brother, you love her from as far back as 'Firefly'. Most of you may know her from 'Homeland' which got her nominated for an Emmy award. Baccarin is also playing currently playing 'Dr. Leslie Thompkins' a love interest of Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in FOX's 'Gotham'.

Are you excited by this news?!

Monday Theme Song: X-Men: The Animated Series (1992)

10:31:00 PM

I DARE you to wake up, blast the X-Men: The Animated Series (1992) theme song, and tell me it didn't want to make you kick ass the whole day. I DARE YOU!

The X-Men theme song was composed by Ron Wasserman (who also did Go Go Power Rangers) and it's so uplifting, powerful, and BAD ASS. It's a work of art. Seriously, it's like one of the top 10 theme songs of a generation.

Sometimes I wonder how many kids were turned on to the world of comics and animation because of Marvels X-Men Animated series on FOXs Saturday morning line-up.

Trust me when I say, blast this Monday morning on your way out the door while you're walking to your car or to the subway and your week will be off to a spectacular start.

Cheers!

Marvel's Princess Leia Comic Book #1 Art Revealed!

3:36:00 PM
Just yesterday I was talking about females in the comic book world after seeing little ol' 11 year old Rowans letter to DC Comics...

Today we have great news! Fans of girl power in Comics and SUPER fans of Star Wars and Princess Leia rejoice! For Marvel has graced us with some sneak peeks into it's 'Star Wars: Princess Leia #1' available in shops March 4th 2015. Below you'll be able to see a few preview pages and a ton of variant covers. The miniseries is written by Mark Waid (DareDevil) and artist Terry Dodson (X-Men).

"When Princess Leia Organa was captured by the Empire as a Rebel spy, she never betrayed her convictions, even in the face of the complete obliteration of her home world, Alderaan. When rescue came, she grabbed a blaster and joined the fight, escaping back to the Rebel Alliance. But in the aftermath of the Rebellion’s harrowing victory and destruction of the first Death Star, the question remains – what is a princess without a world?

“How does she really cope with losing her entire world once the events around that loss have calmed down somewhat? Does she choose to be a princess of nothing – or does she set out to rebuild her heritage and civilization?” asks writer Mark Waid, in an interview with Marvel.com.

Now, follow Leia’s journey in the days following the end of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope as she searches for answers…and for hope. Witness the beginnings of the journey that transforms a princess without a home into one of the greatest leaders in the fight for freedom across the galaxy! It all begins this March, as PRINCESS LEIA #1, the explosive first issue comes to comic shops and digital devices!"

What do you guys all think? Any opinions or thoughts?
