Throwback - New York Comic Con Past.

11:38:00 AM
Who's excited for Comic Con?

Due to some inconveniences, I won't be able to attend San Diego Comic Con (damn you!) But my heart belong to New York anyways and I can't wait for Press Registration to open up for New York Comic Con. My friends over at Reed Pop are killing the game. October is going to be a GREAT month!

Being that it's Throwback Thursday and all, I thought I'd provide you with some cool images I took at New York Comic Con probably about 4 years ago (2011 I believe). Enjoy!

Las Vegas Super Toy Con 2015 Cosplay.

10:09:00 AM
It's simple, I love to cosplay.

Saturday there was a Cosplay contest going on at the Las Vegas Super Toy Con. Naturally, I wanted to enter but I didn't really have much time to prepare the type of costume I wanted to. I through together something quick and worked with what I had to create the beautiful, crazy, playful, hyper, quirky, insane, delightful Harley Quinn look below. My favorite lady from DC Comics may I add.

Putting the Harley Quinn cosplay together: The red and black corset I purchased at some random lingerie store in NY. The face paint is some left over face paint from Halloween and some regular makeup (red lipstick, eye shadow, mascara). The leggings were purchased at Hot Topic. The belt is my boyfriends work belt he wears everyday. For my hair, I couldn't find hair dye anywhere close by so I had to improvise! I grabbed red lipstick and smashed it in between a thick sheet of bounty paper and kept smearing it in my hair until it got as red as I wanted. For the black in my hair I used mainly black eye shadow and also smeared it on my hair with a sheet of bounty paper.

I thought for being such a super last minute cosplay costume it looked pretty cute. Next time hopefully I'll be ready and able to do something crazy.

As a prop I printed 2 photo of The Joker from the Batman Animated Series and cut out some hearts from construction paper. I then taped the photos and hearts to a thick cardboard and made a little sign out of it that said "My Boo, Mistah J!" It also had a little gun that said 'Bang!' on it.

Here's a few of the other cosplayers at the Las Vegas Super Toy Con.

Throwback - Batgirl Cosplay At Comic Con.

1:45:00 PM
I was taking a look back at this Batgirl cosplay I did back when I had my flaming red hair...

It was about 2 years ago I'd say at New York Comic Con. Definitely wasn't my best cosplay but I didn't really have much time to put anything great together. I strolled into Hot Topic and picked up a Batman corset and underwear. Then later on in the day I proceeded to go into Walgreens where they had a batman cape and mask set for 9.99. I figured it was better than nothing and I was dying to dress up.

Here you have it!

I guess I was channeling good ol' Barbara Gordon from the Batman animated series from 1992.

New York Comic Con Cosplay Throwback: The White Queen

5:31:00 PM
I really like Emma Frost "White Queen". In every movie, comic, or cartoon I've seen her in she looks beautiful and elegant. She appears sweet but you can't let that fool you... this lady can get evil quick and can totally mind fuck you (maybe literally even).

Anyway, I first saw her in Marvel's X-Men cartoons on Saturday mornings and have been a fan ever since. In 2011 I thought she'd make a pretty hot cosplay costume for one of the days I was attending New York Comic Con.

I didn't want to buy a White Queen costume from a store so I put this one together by imitating a photo. It was pretty simple really, I purchased white shorts, a white corset, white thigh highs, a white garter belt, white shoes, and I visited a fabric store and purchased white imitation fur and fabric (my best friend sewed the cape for me) I was pretty pleased with the result, I had a lot of fun too.

The White Queen Cosplay was a hit a the convention and also received a bit of love online.

Awesome Cosplay from New York Comic Con 2014: Part 2

1:50:00 PM
New York Comic Con 2014 came and went in the blink of an eye. It's funny because I remember all the times I went to Comic Con it seemed so long because of all the preparation before hand. See, I always cosplay. I usually dress up 3 out of 4 days minimum. All the makeup, hair, props, making sure things aren't going to fall apart on me etc. It takes a lot of work. This isn't Halloween folks, It's New York Freaken Comic Con! A lot of thought goes behind these costumes. These cosplayers are more than just dressed up, they're actors.

The only New York Comic Con I didn't dress up for was my very first one. I was about 17.... after that I was hooked. I remember going down the aisles at 17 (A young and cute little Nubia) looking at all the booths and enjoying the art of creativity left and right thinking WOW, this is awesome. The cosplayers were a plus back in the day. It's was a magical little moment and the vibe back then was just SO COOL. Comic Con wasn't as packed and popular as it is now so it felt even more special. Don't get me wrong, things are still awesome now but a lot has changed in 10 years, A LOT.

Anyway moving on, our awesome friend and photographer Theresa Taylor went behind her lens to show us some of the great costumes people cooked up this year. Enjoy!
